LAWLER - Arnott F. "Arnie" Argali, 89, Lawler, died Sunday, June 30, 2002 at the New Hampton Nursing and Rehabilitation Center of natural causes.
Funeral Services were 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 3 at Trinity Lutheran Church, New Hampton .with Pastor David Bergstrom officiating. Music for the service was provided by Dennis Strum as organist ana John and Leslie Cuvelier as soloists sang "Faith Of Our Fathers" and "In The Garden". The congregation sang "Amazing Grace".
Interment was in St.Wenceslaus Cemetery, Spillville with Ken Benning, Joe Scally, Bob Cuvelier, Virgil Mashek, Mark Timlin and Don Benz as pallbearers.
Visitation was from 4-8 .m. Tuesday, July 2 at Hugeback Funeral Home, Lawler and an hour prior to the funeral on Wednesday at the church.
Arnott was born May 28,1913 in Lawler, the only son of Fred G. and Elizabeth Benz Argali. He lived most of his live in the house where he was born in Lawler. He graduated from Lawler High School in 1931 and later attended Gem City Business College in Quincy, IL. He served in W.W.II from 1942-1945, with the U.S. Army, 80th Quartermasters Depot Supply Company in Iceland and France. In December 1947 in Cedar Falls he married Gladys Haug of Spillville. Arnie was employed with the State Bank of Lawler for 37 years until retiring in 1978. He was proud to be a 50 year member of the Harold Redman American Legion Post #279 of Lawler. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, wintering in Texas and working with wood.
Survivors include his wife, Gladys; one daughter, Annette Argali and her husband Richard Mallory, Austin, TX; two brothers-in-law, Clarence Haug, Decorah and Arthur Port Angeles, WA and one nephew, Alan Pollath, Butte, MT.
Preceding him in death were his parents and two sisters, Amy Argali, in 1908 and Edith Pollath, in 1970.
