Funeral services for Ellen Andrews of Ridgeway, formerly of West Branch, MI were held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 26 at the Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in West Branch, MI. Pallbearers were: Gary Ludeking, Scott Ludeking, Chad Andrews, Chris Andrews, Deborah Hageman, Bob Munn, and John or Bob Bennett as alternates. Schluter-Balik Funeral Home handled the local arrangements.
Ellen, 87, died Friday, February 22, 2002 at the Aase Haugen Nursing Home in Decorah following a long illness.
Ellen Frances Andrews was born July 27, 1914 in Lenawee, MI, the daughter of Samuel and Phoebe (Spangler) Barrett. She attended country school in Michigan.
On June 16, 1933 she married Arthur Stanley Andrews in West Branch. She was baptized at the Whittemore Baptist Church in Whittemore, MI on May 25, 1975. In 1990, she moved from Michigan to Iowa, due to her failing health. She was a former member of the Free Methodist Church in West Branch.
She loved to sew, do crafts, garden, cook, and collected birds.
She is survived by two daughters: Nancy Bentley of Apopka, FL and Sally Ludeking of Ridgeway; one son: Larry of Gaylord, MI; 14 grandchildren; and 22 greatgrandchildren.
Frances was preceded in death by her husband Stanley in 1975; one son in infancy; her parents; three brothers: Leroy, Harold, and Robert; and six sisters: Florence Carpenter, Helen Ellis, Shirley Raker, Josephine Triggs, Gertrude Steinmiller, and Jean Maniscalco.
