Services held for Herman Anderson

Funeral services for Herman Anderson of rural Calmar were held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 1 at Peace Lutheran Church in Ridgeway with Rev. Philip Olson and Rev. Ginny Olson officiating. Interment was in Lincoln Lutheran Cemetery, rural Ridgeway. Pallbearers were his grandchildren. Balik Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
Herman, 70, died Sunday, April 28, 2002 at the Gundersen Lutheran Hospital in LaCrosse, WI following a lengthy illness.
Herman Ardein Anderson was born August 14, 1931, the son of Gilbert and Luella (Justaad) Anderson. He was baptized September 13, 1931 in the Hauge Lutheran Church and confirmed in the Decorah Lutheran Church. He was educated in the rural school near his home. He served in the US Army from November of 1955 until August of 1957 at Ft. Sill, OK.
On July 15, 1957 he married Lois Russell Albertson at Wichita Falls, TX. After his discharge, they farmed near Spillville.
Herman enjoyed farming and making and fixing the things on the farm. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, and playing all sorts of games with his family.
He is survived by his wife Lois of rural Calmar; two daughters: Candi Nelson of Calmar and Tresha Kuennen of Calmar; one step son: Tyrome Albertson of Cresco; 13 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two brothers: Gordon of Decorah and Donald of Cedar Rapids; and six sisters: Clara Williams of Decorah, Almeda Grindeland of Seattle, WA, Pauline Keune of Ft. Atkinson, Beverly Steen of Waterloo, Frances Frana of Decorah, and Katherine Holten of Cedar Rapids.
Herman was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters: Irene Groth and Loretta Phillips.
