Brother and uncle, Raymond (Ray) Duane Peterson, 67, passed away Friday, February 9, 2018 due to declining health. He had been receiving steadfast care and support during his health challenges and was most recently residing at Valley View Healthcare & Rehab nursing home in Houston. He previously lived at Mosher Veterans Home in Dresbach, MN where he frequently enjoyed singing and listening to music, joining in prayers, and joking and talking with his visitors, the staff and other residents.
Ray was born in Iowa City, IA on March 9, 1950. Throughout his life, he loved cars and worked as an auto body worker throughout the region. He also enjoyed choosing and restoring cars of his own, fishing with friends, hanging out with his dogs, hearing the top rock 'n' roll and country hits, and drinking Spring Grove pop.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents Ragnvald (Raggy) and Alice Peterson (née Salisbury) of Spring Grove, MN and previously Decorah, IA. He is survived by his siblings: Rosetta (Rose) Dean of Caledonia, MN; Ronald (Ron) Peterson of Owen, WI; Richard (Rick) Peterson of Falcon Heights, MN; and Donna O’Bieglo of La Crosse, WI as well as sister-in-law Lonnie Peterson (wife of Rick) and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
On Tuesday, February 13, 2018 at 10:30 a.m., Ray's family will gather with prayers and hymns at Big Canoe Lutheran Church Cemetery in the countryside of Decorah, IA to lay Ray to rest next to his parents. McCormick Funeral Home of Caledonia thoughtfully helped the family with their requested arrangements.
