Services held for Louise Reicks, 94
Funeral services for Louise Reicks were held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 3 at St. Joseph’s Worship Center with interment in Calvary Cemetery, both at Cresco. Rev. Henry W. Charipar officiated. Pallbearers were: Jerry Ferrie, Wayne Reicks, Marvin Martinek, Randy Vsetecka, Allen Wiesler, and Chuck Reicks. Conway Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
Louise, 94, died Thursday, November 1 2001 at the Colonial Manor Nursing Home in Elma where she has lived since 1992.
Louise Rose Reicks was bom October 11, 1907 in Festina, Winneshiek County, the daughter of Clemens Fred and Anna (Lechtenberg) Scholbrock. She attended St. Mary’s School in Festina.
On February 10, 1931 she married Albert Reicks at Our Lady of Seven Dolars Church in Festina. Following their marriage, they moved to Howard County, where they began farming.
Louise enjoyed gardening, crocheting and quilting. She was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, its Altar and Rosary Society, the ACCW, and the Garden Club.
She is survived by her children: Merlin of Cresco, Virgil of Harmony, MN, Shirley Martinek of Cresco, Darlene Vsetecka of Alta Vista, and Luveme Lofthus of Dodge Center, MN; 32 grandchildren; 68 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and one brother: Albert of Elma.
Louise was preceded in death by her husband Albert on March 5, 1991; one daughter: Elizabeth Ferrie; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; her parents; four brothers: Herman, Joseph, Bill, and Clem; and four sisters: Linda Kipp, Mathilda Baumler, Ann Elpert, and Mary Scholbrock.
