Earl Russell Passes; Funeral Services Were Held Saturday

Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at one o'clock in the Schutte funeral home in Postville for Earl Russell, 46, whose lifeless body was found at his farm home north of Castalia last Thursday. The coroner of Winneshiek county, summoned to the home, pronounced that Mr. Russell had died Monday of last week, the last time he had been seen about the farm.

The Rev. F. R. Ludwig officiated at the service here and also at the Centennial cemetery at two o'clock.

Earl Page Russell was born on a farm in Frankville township, four miles northeast of Ossian, on April 19, 1901, as the oldest son of Mr. and Mrs. John Russell. He grew to manhood on the Russell farm north of Castalia and in August 1934, he was married to Hazel Manderfield at West Union. She passed away September 26, 1945.

Mr. Russell is survived by his mother, Mrs. Frances Russell; two sisters, Zoa, Mrs. Lewis Rekward, of Decorah, and Dorothy, Mrs. John Broghamer, of Ossian; one brother, John Russell, of Lanesboro, Minn., and several nieces and nephews. His father passed away May 15, 1939.
