Willis Koepp, 64 Decorah auto mechanic, dies

Willis F. Koepp, an auto mechanic at Haugen’s Garage, died Friday, Dec. 12 at Lutheran Hospital in La Crosse, at the age of 64.

Funeral services were held Monday, Dec. 15 at 11 a.m. at. Decorah Lutheran Church. The Rev. Alden Hovda conducted the service and organist Mrs. George Wharton accompanied the congregation in hymns. Burial was at Washington Prairie Lutheran Cemetery with the following serving as pallbearers: Clayton Haugen, Carroll Lansing, Paul Egge, Dennis Koepp, Steve Remmen and John Sersland. Honorary pallbearers were members of the Decorah Fire Department. Steine's Funeral Home was in .charge of arrangements.

Willis Koepp was born May 19,1916 in Calmar to Frank and Christina (Goetkin) Koepp. He attended Calmar public schools and served overseas in the U.S. Navy and U.S. Army. He was married to Helen Dorothy Sersland Jan. 27, 1939 in Waukon. She died Oct. 28, 1959. He always lived and worked in the Calmar and. Decorah area and was a member of Decorph Lutheran. He was also a retired, member, of the Decorah Fire Department.

He is survived by his three children. Randall of Decorah; Richard of Cedar Rapids and Bruce of Belle Glade, Fla.; five grandchildren, two brothers Percy Koepp of Calmar and Robert Koepp of Decorah and/a sister, Mrs. Frank (Esther) Kautman Calmar
