Funeral services for Lyle Houdek of New Lisbon, WI were held at 11;00 am, Monday, February 7. At 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 7 at St. Marys Catholic Church in Caledonia. The Rev. Donald Schmitz officiated. Interment was in Calvary Cemetery in Caledonia. McCormick Funeral Home of Caledonia handled the arrangements. Lyle, 67, died Friday, February 4, 2000 at St. Joseph’s Hospice in Marshfield, WI of lung cancer.

Lyle Charles Houdek was born August 18, 1932 in Winneshiek County, the son of Carl and Mayme (Shileny) Houdek. He attended rural schools and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from September 11, 1952 to July 2, 1954. Following this military service he returned to the Cresco area.

On September 14, 1957 he married Geneva Reicks at Cresco. She died May 2, 1978. Lyle was a retired farmer and a machinery dealer. He enjoyed collecting antique toy tractors.

Survivors include three sons: Jim, Wayne and Darrel all of Caledonia, MN; four daughters: Linda Anderson of Winona, MN, Sharon Svoboda of Stewartville, MN, Elaine Stika of Cresco, and Dr. Carol Houdek of Austin, MN; 18 grandchildren; one great-grandson; and one brother; Donald of Cresco.

Lyle was preceded in death by his wife Geneva; one son: Lyle Robert Houdek on February 24, 1997 and his parents.
