Francis Cremer Dies at Omaha

CALMAR – Word reached here last week of the sudden death of Francis A. Cremer, 49, a native of Festina, at Omaha, Nebr. His death was due to a heart ailment complicated by a chronic respiratory condition.

Funeral services were held Monday morning from St. Aloysius Church at Calmar. A solemn requiem high mass was read by Rt. Rev. Msgr. Wm. J. Cremer, uncle of the deaceased{sp} as celebrant; Father Steiert pastor of St. Aloysius Church as deacon, Father John Smith, pastor of St. Mary’s, Festina, was sub-deacon.

Francis was born on a farm near Festina Dec. 5, 1907, son of Mrs. Mathilda Cremer of Calmar who with his wife survives. His father John Cremer preceded him in death May 1950.

He received his education in St. Mary’s Parochial School of Festina and St. John’s High School at Collegeville, Minn., from where he graduated in 1926. For some time he was associated with his brothers in the contracting firm known as Cremer Construction Company.

Nov. 25, 1935, he was united in marriage to Georgine M. Beer at St. Francis DeSales Church at Ossian.

Besides his wife and his mother, survivors include 5 brothers, Paul of New Hampton, Al of Harmony, Greg of Chisholm, Minn., Vic of New Albin, Leander of Calmar; and two sisters, Marie Rothmeyer and Nora Vondersitt of Calmar.

Relatives and friends from Yankton, S. D., Dimock, S. D., Racine, Wis., St. Paul, Chisholm, Minn., Harmony, Gilbertville, New Albin, New Hampton, Mason City, Austin, Decorah, Ossian, Calmar, Spillville and Festina attended the funeral.
