Mathilda Cremer Funeral Services Held March 18

Mathilda Cremer, Calmar housewife, died March 15 at the Ossian Senior Hospice after an illness of two years. She was 89.

Funeral services were held Friday, March 18 at 11 a.m. at St. Aloysius Church in Calmar. Msgr. Gerald V. Steiert conducted the funeral mass. Burial was in Our Lady of Seven Dolors Cemetery in Festina. Mrs. Cremer’s grandsons, Tim Vondersitt, Donald Cremer, Steve Cremer, Larry Swanson, Gerald Rothmeyer and John Cremer were pallbearers. Arrangements were made by French Funeral Home of Calmar.

As Mathilda Holthaus, Mrs. Cemer{sp} was born October 8, 1887 in Festina, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. August Holthaus. She was married October 10, 1905 in Festina to John Cremer in Festina. Her husband died in 1950.

She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Cornelius (Marie) Rothmeyer and Mrs. Joe (Nora) Vondersitt, both of Calmar; four sons, Al Cremer of Harmony; Greg of Omaha, Leander of Festina and Paul Cremer of New Hampton; 22 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren and one brother, Joe Holthaus at the Ossian Senior Hospice.

A sister, Mrs. Felix (Monica) Hageman of Calmar, died just five days after the death of Mrs. Cremer. Mrs. Cremer also was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Francis and Victor and a daughter Rita.

Mrs. Cremer was a member of the Catholic Church.
