Mel Klisart, 84, of Urbandale, died July 31, 2016, in Des Moines. Memorial services are Monday, Aug. 8, at 11 a.m., at St. Theresa's Catholic Church, Des Moines. Family will greet friends at the church one hour prior to the service. Entombment is at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery following services. Memorials may be directed to St. Theresa's Catholic Church.

Mel was in the Air Force, which included three years in England during the Korean War. Following service, Mel was a Chicago corporate merchandiser for Montgomery Ward for 34 years until retirement.

Survivors include his wife, Lorna Klisart; son, Jon (Patty) Klisart, Covington, La.; daughters, Julie (Mike) Browne, Aurora, Ill. and Beth Klisart, Stoughton, Wis.; sisters, Lois (Bob) Sharpe, Albuquerque, N.M., Sr. Mary Klisart, Dubuque; brother, Joel (Elaine) Klisart, Johnston; sister-in-law, Jackie Klisart, N.J.; and three grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Gustave and Catherine (Cass) Klisart; brother, Luke Klisart and sister, Jane Klisart.
