PROTIVIN - Nettie Adeline Hrdlicka, 90, died Thursday, Feb. 10 at the Cresco Care Center of natural causes.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 12 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Protivin, with Rev. Allen Schmitt celebrating the mass. The pall was placed on the casket by her four children. Eucharistic ministers were Bob and Sara Hrdlicka. The gifts were presented by Larry Hrdlicka and Joyce Mahr and Jim and Kristy Hrdlicka were lectors. Music for the service was provided by Marlene Pecinovsky as organist and the Holy Trinity Choir.

Interment was in Holy Trinity Catholic Cemetery with Larry Hrdlicka, Tim Hrdlicka, Joyce Mahr, Linda DeSloover, Dean Franzen and Greg Mahr as pallbearers.

Visitation was held from 3 to 9 .m. on Friday, Feb. 11 at Hugeback's Protivin Funeral Home, Protivin, where there was a 4 p.m. Rosary and a 4:30 p.m. Parish Scripture Service.

Nettie was born Oct. 8, 1909 near Spillville, the daughter of Joe and Anna (Humpal) Frana. She attended rural country school.

On June 14, 1927 she married Joe Hrdlicka at St. Wenceslaus Church, Spillville. After their marriage the couple farmed west of Protivin until Joe's retirement in 1973 at which time they moved into Protivin. Joe Hrdlicka died Sept. 9, 1987. Later that year Nettie became a resident of the Cresco Care Center where she lived until the time of her death.

Memberships included Holy Trinity Catholic Church and the Rosary Society. Nettie enjoyed being in her garden, fishing and tatting. She always enjoyed flowers and house plants.

Survivors include one daughter, Anna (Linus) Franzen, Lawler; three sons, Jim (Linda) Hrdlicka, Protivin, A1 (Mildred) Hrdlicka, Lourdes and Bob (Sara) Hrdlicka, Charles City; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one sister, Pauline (Frank) Bouska, Protivin; and a sister-in-law, Hattie Frana, Spillville.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Joe; her parents; three brothers, Adolph, Joe and Martin Frana; and four sisters, Mary Snyder, Emma Petrik, Adeline Berst and Bessie Koudelka.
