WAUCOMA - Ann G. Boland, 89, a resident of Hallmark Care Center, Mt. Vernon, formerly from Springville and the Waucoma area, died Monday, Sept. 25, 2000 at the care center following a short illness.

Funeral services were Thursday, Sept. 28 at St. Isidore Catholic Church in Springville with Father James Duster presiding.

Graveside services were 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.

Ann was born Feb. 20, 1911 in Jackson Junction, the daughter of Joseph and Mayme (McGovern) Deeny. She graduated from Waucoma High School in 1929 and went on to receive her teacher’s certificate. On Nov. 15, 1930, Ann married W. Cletus Boland in Waucoma. They lived in Amber then later moved to Springville where she helped Cletus with their family-owned creamery. Ann was also a cashier at Killian’s in Cedar Rapids for 23 years before retiring in 1982. Ann was an active member of St. Isidore Catholic Church for many years.

Surviving are a son, Robert (Millie) Phoenix, AZ; two daughters, Beverly Schrader, Walford and Barbara Fogarty, Springville; a daughter-in-law, Dorothy Boland, Springville; 16 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; a sister, Alice Kaeman, Phoenix, AZ; several cousins in the Waucoma area.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Cletus on June 16, 1996; two sons, LeRoy and Merlin; a granddaughter, Dawn; a brother, Miles Deeny; two sisters, Rosemary Deeny and Joan Seil.
