ST. LUCAS — Ambrose J. Buchheit, 68, St. Lucas, died of cancer at his home on Thursday, Nov. 9, 2000.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, Nov. 13 at 11 a.m. at St. Luke's Catholic Church, St. Lucas, with Rev. Marvin Salz and Monsignor Leandor Reicks as concelebrants. Music for the services will be provided by Kathy Meyer as organist and Special Music by Janet Schmitt and Jeff Adams. Lector will be Mark Topf and ushers will be Kerri Langreck and Arnold Luzum.

Interment will be in St. Luke's Catholic Church Cemetery, St. Lucas. Casket- bearers will be Alan Buchheit, Jeff Buchheit, Jeff Langreck, Steve Buchheit, Toby Buchheit and Dennis Buchheit.

Ambrose J. Buchheit was born Aug. 19, 1932 in Decorah, the son of Florian and Freda (Heying) Buchheit. He attended school at Our Lady of Seven Dolors in Festina and was an active 4-H member. He worked at the Festina Creamery hauling milk. On Aug. 1, 1953, Ambrose married Dolores Langreck at St. Luke's Catholic Church, St. Lucas. They lived near Festina until they moved to a farm south of St. Lucas. Ambrose worked for the Heying Chick Company in various positions from 1958 to July, 2000. He was a member of St. Luke's Catholic Church and the Rosary Society. He served as a director for the Federal Land Bank from the early 1970s to 1985. In 1970 he helped start the Auburn Raiders 4-H Club, where he was a leader for many years. Ambrose loved to play softball and played with many teams throughout the area. His hobby was making things with wrought iron, and he especially loved spending time with his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Dolores; one daughter, Kristin (Creig) Pehl, Cedar Falls; three sons, Randy Buchheit and special friend, Dee Farrell, New Hampton; Bruce (Lois) Buchheit, Saude; Corey (Sherri) Buchheit, St. Lucas; eight grandchildren; five brothers, Sonny (Helen) Buchheit, Independence; Kelly (Darlene) Buchheit, Maynard; Del (Caroline) Buchheit, Peosta; Harold (Collette) Buchheit, Dubuque; Joe (Linda) Buchheit, Dubuque; five sisters, Toni (Marshall) Strey, Brentwood, TN; Pat Eldan, Lander, WY; Betty (Mark) Topf, Dubuque; Jeanne McCarthy, Socorro, NM and Pam Buchheit, Cedar Rapids.

Preceding him in death were his parents and twin granddaughters, Hannah and Haley.

Ambrose Bucheit

Ambrose J. Bucheit, 68, of St. Lucas, died at his home Thursday, Nov. 9, 2000, following a six-year battle with cancer.

Funeral services were held Monday, Nov. 13 at 11 a.m. at St. Lucas Catholic Church in St. Lucas with Rev. Marvin Salz and Msgr. Leander Reicks officiating.

Music was provided by organist Kathy Meyer with special music provided by Janet Schmitt and Jeff Adams. Mass servers were Darin and Justin

Schmitt. Lector was Mark Topf. Attendees were seated by Kerri Langreck and Arnold Luzum.

Casket bearers were Alan, Jeff, Toby, Steve and Dennis Bucheit and Jeff Langreck.

Interment was at the church cemetery.

Bucheit; five brothers, Sonny Bucheit and wife Helen, Independence; Kelly Bucheit, and wife Darlene, Maynard; Del Bucheit; and wife Caroline, Peosta; Harold Bucheit and wife Collette, Dubuque; Joe Bucheit and wife Linda, Dubuque; five sisters, Toni Strey and husband Marshall, Brentwood, Tenn.; Pat Eldan and husband Bob, Lander, Wyo.; Betty Topf and husband Mark, Dubuque; Jeanne McCarthy, Socorro, N.M.; and Pam Bucheit, Cedar Rapids.

Ambrose Bucheit was preceded in death by his parents and twin granddaughters, Hannah and Haley.
