Team of Horses Tramples Ossian Girl, 5, to Death

Mary Lou Hageman, 5-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Hageman of near Ossian, started out across the fields where her daddy was working Friday afternoon to take lunch to him. Before she got there however she passed in front of a team of horses and at that instant it is thought that a bee must have stung one of the horses for they lunged forward suddenly, trampling the little girl and injuring her fatally. She lived until the next afternoon.

Funeral services for the child were conducted Monday morning at St. Mary’s church in Festina with the Rev. Father Rubly officiating.
