From 1911 newspaper provided by Linus Cremer:

Mrs. Henry Giesing Dead.

Magdalena Klisart was born in Rasselas, Elk county, Pa., November 6, 1857. In 1860 she with her parents came to Winneshiek county and settled on the farm now owned by Nick Schissel, living there until 1882. February 7, 1882, she was united in marriage with Mr. Henry Giesing, and for three years they lived 1-1/2 miles west of Calmar, after which they moved back into Military township, 1-1/2 miles east of Festina. This union was blessed with seven children, namely, Joseph, of Winner, So. Dak.; Christina and John, at home; Louisa—now Mrs. Matthias Pitzenberger, of Festina; Amelia, Frank and Victoria, at home.

Some time ago she became afflicted with cancer of the liver, and on Saturday, July 15, 1911, succumbed to the dreaded disease, the death angel invading the home in which she lived since 1884. Aside from her children she leaves to mourn her departure her husband, her aged parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Klisart whose ages are 87 and 79 respectively, four sisters, two brothers, namely, Henry T. Klisart, Ossian; Mrs. August Holthaus, Festina; Sisters Veronica and Evangelista, in St. Francis convent, LaCrosse, Wis.; Mrs. Philip Bucheit, Festina and John Klisart, Ossian.

Funeral services were held in St. Mary’s church, Festina, Monday, July 17, Rev. A. J. Rubly performing the ceremony, and those who bore her to her last resting place were William Holtey, W. A. Schrandt, Fred Sudtelgte, John Hageman, Andrew Rosenbaum, Theo. Miller.

As a daughter, sister, wife and mother Mrs. Giesing always was kind and loving, performing the duties of life as she thought right and just. Her whole life was devoted to those who were dependent upon her, and her demise is deeply deplored by all who knew her. The entire community extends sympathy to the bereaved ones. Peace to her ashes.

CARD OF THANKS.

We desire to extend heartfelt thanks to all friends and neighbors who so kindly assisted us in the time of our great trouble, the sickness and death of our beloved wife and mother.
