Throngs Attend Funeral of Wm. Huber at Calmar
The Calmar community was deeply saddened last Monday when word reached there of the sudden death of William Huber, who was taken away from his labors while assisting one of his neighbors, Jack Schissel, in shredding corn. Apparently in good health, he left home that morning never thinking that he would never return again to greet his family in his jovial manner. His death came as a great shock to his beloved ones.
That he enjoyed a large circle of friends was portrayed by the large numbers that gathered at the home and the church to pay their last respect to a loyal friend and by the numerous spiritual and floral bouquets. Out of respect the Calmar high school students attended the funeral in a body. A son of the deceased, Francis Huber, is a sophomore in the school.
The funeral services were held Thursday morning at 9:30 o’clock at the St. Aloysius Catholic church with burial in the St. Aloysius cemetery. Rev. Joseph Vollmecke officiated at the Requiem High Mass and also at the grave. The pall bearers were: Felix Timp, Will Mashek, Mike Baker, Will Timp, Jr., Jack Schissel, and Jos. Shindelar.
