WAR VET FOUND DEAD IN AUTO

Edwin Rothmeyer, Calmar,
Dies of Heart Attack

Calmar, Ia. – Special: Edwin Rothmeyer, 27, discharged World war II veteran who had seen many months service in the Pacific was found dead in his automobile on a street in Festina, five miles south of Calmar, at 8:30 o’clock Wednesday morning.

Examination disclosed he died from a heart ailment, from which he had been suffering about a year.

Rothmeyer and two companions started out to attend a wedding dance in Spillville. At Calmar, he told his pals that he was not feeling good and “that he would return home.” His companions left the automobile and Rothmeyer started for home, only getting as far as Festina. Early Wednesday morning the Schneberger brothers noticed the parked car and peering in saw Rothmeyer lying in the back seat.

Sheriff George Harms and Harry Steine, coroner, and two doctors were called. Examination disclosed that Rothmeyer was dead, and that he had suffered a heart attack.

The body is at the French funeral home. No funeral arrangements have been made.

The victim is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Rothmeyer, farmers living near Festina. Besides his parents he is survived by four brothers, Florian and Charles of Calmar, Frank of Ossian and Gregory with the occupation forces in Japan, two sisters, Mrs. Albert Wenthold, Festina, and Mrs. Ray Jennings, Austin, Minn.
