Rose Lou Hageman In Sudden Death Saturday Night

Funeral services were held on Tuesday morning, June 10 at 9:30 o’clock at St. Benedict’s Catholic church in this city for Rose Lou Hageman, daughter of Fred and Amelia Hageman.

Rose Lou died suddenly Saturday night at eight o’clock at the home of her uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. John Geising near Canton, Minn., where she had been visiting. Her death was due to a cerebral hemorrhage, after an illness of only a few minutes.

She was born in Calmar township on April 12, 1931. She attended district school in Calmar township a short time and later in Bluffton township, after her parents moved there.

Surviving are her parents, one brother, Parnell and two sisters, Ruth and Anneta.

Rev. Father M. E. Nolan officiated at the funeral services, which were largely attended. The children’s choir sang, Mrs. Vincent Henry presiding at the organ. Howard and Norma Falck and Emmett Carolan, classmates, were the flower boy and girl. Interment was in St. Benedict’s Catholic cemetery.

Much sympathy is extended to the bereaved parents in their bereavement.

The pallbearers were Joseph and Ralph Geising, Paul Carolan, Paul O’Brien, Parnell Donlan and Marion Wicks.

The Olson-Iverson funeral service had charge of the funeral arrangements.

The sudden death on Saturday of Rosa Lou Hageman, niece of Mr. John and Miss Christina Guesing, living north of town, has saddened not only her own home but all who knew her for the lovely little girl she was. Sse{sic} had come only last Thursday to spend the summer with her uncle and aunt. Upon her return home from Harmony on Saturday afternoon she complained of not feeling well and soon became violently ill and in a few minutes had passed away. Dr. Fred Arney of Preston was called and pronounced death due to hemorrhage of the brain. Rosa Lou was nine years old and is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Hageman of Burr Aok{sp}, Iowa.

To them is extended the sincere sympathy of all in their sudden loss of their little daughter. The funeral was on Thursday, with burial in Decorah.

Decorah, Ia.—Special: Funeral services for Rose Lou Hageman, nine-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Hageman, were held in St. Benedict’s Catholic Church here Tuesday with the Rev. M. E. Nolan, pastor, officiating. Burial was in the Catholic Cemetery.

The child died suddenly last Saturday evening following a few hours’ illness. Her death occurred at the home of her uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. John Giesing, near Canton, Minn.

The Hageman family formerly lived between Ft. Atkinson and Calmar. They now live on a farm north of here.

Rose Lou was born April 12, 1931. She had attended school in Decorah and near Calmar.

Her parents, two sisters, Ruth and Anneta, and one brother, Parnell, survive.

NOTE: The last name of the uncle is spelled two different ways.
