Mrs. Clara Ellis, 49, of Decorah, died Friday, Dec. 23 at her home on Maple avenue after a week's illness.
Funeral services were held today (Tuesday, Dec. 27) at 1:30 p.m. at the Steine funeral home and at 2 p.m.at the Decorah Lutheran church. Rev. M.A. Egge conducted the services.
Pallbearers were: Norman Boe, Carl Reinecke, George Ellickson, Roger Grant, Fred Iverson, and Carl Pierce.
The flower committee was comprised of Mrs. Norman Boe, Miss Marcella Vseteska, Mrs. Alice Dahle, and Mrs. Sam Usgaard.
Burial was in the Lutheran cemetery.
Clara Blaess was born February 3, 1900 in Decorah. She was the daughter of John and Minnie Blaess.
She was married to Alvin Ellis in Decorah, November 5, 1919. One daughter was born to the union.
Surviving besides her parents is her daughter, Mrs. Evelyn L. McLaughlin of Arlington, Va., and two sisters, Mrs. Lou Emmons of Decorah and Mrs. Joe Kala of Spillville.
The deceased was a member of Decorah Lutheran church and of the Ladies Guild.
She was also a member of the DAV auxiliary.Decorah Public Opinion, December 26, 1949
