Former Supervisor
Embret G. Soland
Dies Tuesday

Embret G. Soland, 63, former Winneshiek County Supervisor and well-known Springfield Township farmer, died at his home Tuesday morning, Jan 1.

Funeral services will be held Friday, Jan. 4, from the Washington Prairie Lutheran Church at 2 p.m. Burial will be in the Washington Prairie Cemetery, The Rev .E. O. Ellefson read the services, and the Steine Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Name Pallbearers.

The pallbearers will be Kenneth Nesheim, Ray Pankow, Sverre Svenson, Walter Nesheim, Roy Nesheim, and Howard Nesheim.

Ethel Felke, Louraine Lee, Wilma Pankow, Marie Svenson and Arlene Strum will serve on the floral committee.

Embret G. Soland was born Dec. 17, 1893, in Springfield Township, the son of the late Gilbert and Bertha Soland. He lived his entire life in Springfield Township on the same farm.

Business College

He attended the rural schools of the township, Luther College Preparatory School and Valders Business College. He was baptized and confirmed in the Washington Prairie Lutheran Church.

April 18, 1918, he married Louise G. Arness in the Glenwood Lutheran Church, who survives him. He is also survived by one daughter, Mrs. Robert (Lucille) Reed, Galesburg, Ill., and five sons, Ernest, at home; Robert, Sigourney; Donald, Oxnard, Calif.; Norman, Washington D. C., Andrews A. F. Base; and Eugene Soland, at home.

County Supervisor

His vocation was farming. He served the southeastern district, as Winneshiek County Supervisor for three terms from 1945 to 1951 and then from 1954 until he resigned Nov. 19, 1956.

In addition to his immediate family, he is also survived by 12 grandchildren, four sisters, Mrs. Ameila Guttebo, Seattle, Wash.; Mrs. Marie Arness, Decorah; Mrs. Clara Bode, Seattle, Wash.; and Mrs. Bernard Keepers, Seattle, Wash., and one half-sister, Mrs. Ella Viste, Decorah. One sister, Mrs. George Weflen, preceded him in death.
