SERVICES HELD FOR WILLIAM SCHAVE

Funeral services were held Wednesday, July 28, 1971 at 11:00 a.m. at the Zion Lutheran Church, Castalia for William F. Schave, with the Rev. Arthur J. Tolo officiating. The Schutte Funeral Home of Postville was in charge of arrangements.

William F. Schave, son of Henry and Minnie Wedo Schave, was born near Garnavillo, in Clayton County, Iowa August 13, 1885. He died July 25 at the Good Samaritan Center in Postville.

He was baptized on November 22, 1885 and confirmed April 3, 1898. He attended school at the rural Centennial School. On November 25, 1910 Mr. Schave was united in marriage with Caroline Fischer at Postville. To this union seven children were born.

He was engaged in farming in the Mason City, Postville and Castalia areas. When they moved to Castalia he hauled milk for the Carnation Milk Plant for a few years.

Mr. Schave was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church in Castalia.

In 1960 the Schave's celebrated their golden wedding at the Zion Lutheran.

He is survived by two daughters: Lauretta (Mrs. Roland Heidemann) of Milwaukee, Wisconsin and Vera (Mrs. Glen Pixler) of Luana, three sons, Clarence of Luana, Glen of Postville and Virgil of Moline, Illinois; 17 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, on February 6, 1970, an infant daughter in 1919 and a son Harvey on July 26, 1956, his sister, Sophia (Mrs. Fred Suckow), five brothers, John of Minneapolis; Lou of Waukon, Albert of Clermont; Charley of Postville and George of Castalia.

Burial was in the Pleasant View Cemetery, Castalia.

Mrs. Gerald Hager was the organist. Casket bearers were: Duaine Davis, Curtis Henkes, Jason Voelzke, Daniel Pixler, Roger Wettleson and James Durr. [All grandsons or grandsons-in-law.]

The Schutte Funeral service of Postville was in charge of arrangements.
