Orlando Prentis Schopp
ORLAND PRENTIS SCHOPP PASSESOrlando Prentis Schopp, son of Michael and Lydia Schopp, was born near Ossian, Iowa, October 21, 1859, and passed at his hone near Castalia, Thursday, January 16, 1936, following a protracted illness, at the age of 76 years.
On October 21, 1884, he was united in marriage to Miss Sarah Gage at Elgin, Iowa. Their new home was made at Elgin, where they resided for sixteen years, after which they moved on a farm near Castalia, and have since resided in this community. Three children were born to this union -- Mrs. Nellie Miller of LaCrosse, Wisconsin, Chas. B. Schopp of Castalia, and a daughter who died in infancy.
He is survived by his wife, two children and six grandchildren, Melbert Schopp of Castalia; Frieda and Clifton Schopp of Elgin, Illnois; Forest and Violet Miller and Mrs. Marion Schild, all of LaCrosse, Wisconsin. One brother, Wiley Schopp of Santa Marie, California. Two sisters, Mrs. Louisa Clark and Mrs. Mary Jane Crosby, preceded him in death.
Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock from the home, Rev. L. E. Crippen, pastor of the U. B. church, officiating. Interment was made in the Elgin cemetery.
The sympathy of a host of friends is extended to the bereaved family.
