Mason City Globe Gazette, 5 Apr. 1951.
Calmar- Lee Hines, 81, longtime resident, burned to death Wednesday afternoon in a fire apparently caused by his smoking in bed.
Firemen who arrived shortly after 3 p.m. said they found Mr. Hines' body on the floor near a badly burned cot in his two-room home. The homes interior was badly damaged, but a stove was intact and there was no evidence of an explosion, firemen said.
Mr. Hines came to Calmar in 1917 from Wisconsin. Two sons and a daughter survive.
