Henry Schultz, 83, Castalia, died Wednesday Feb. 27, 1985 at Postville Community Hospital.

Services were Saturday at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, Ossian. Burial was in the church cemetery. Schmitz Funeral Home was in charge of the funeral.
Pallbearers were Michael Knudtson, Jeffrey Knudtson, Wayne Kneeskern, James Schultz, Mel Einck and Milton Koenig.

He was born Jan. 7, 1902 near Castalia the son of Henry and Verna (Warnholtz) Schultz. He attended Winneshiek County rural schools.

On Feb. 23, 1925 he was married to Amanda Einck at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church by the late Rt. Rev. Msgr. M. G. Thiltgen. The couple recently celebrated their 60th anniversary.

They had 3 children, Geneva Knudtson of Milford, Arthur of Des Moines and Lyle of Albuquerque, NM.

He lived his entire life in the Castalia area. He worked as an electrician, carpenter and telephone lineman before becoming postmaster at Castalia in 1940. In 1942 he became rural letter carrier at Castalia, retiring from that job in December of 1966.

He was a member of St. Francis de Sales Church and a member of its rosary society. He also was a member of the Castalia Fire Department for 25 years and a member of the Winneshiek County and State rural letter carriers' association.

Survivors include his wife, 3 children, 8 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and 2 sisters, Mabel Schmidt of Postville and Elsie Kneeskern of Preston, MN. He was preceded in death by 4 brothers: George, Joe, Elmer and Roy, and one grandson, Douglas Schultz.
