Mrs. Fred (Velma Eliza Meyer) Timmerman Brouillet
Velma Eliza Meyer Timmerman Brouillet, 88, of Castalia, died June 4, 1979, in the Community Memorial Hospital in Postville.Velma Brouillet was born September 22, 1890 in Clayton County, the daughter of Henry L. and Elizabeth M. D. (Senholz) Meyer. Shortly after her birth, the family moved to the Meyer farm, rural Castalia. She attended school at the school house on her parents farm and later attended the public school in Castalia. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church and was a 50 year member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Castalia.
She married William Timmerman January 14, 1915. After William died in 1966, she later married Fred Brouillet of Frankville, August 23, 1967. She maintained an interest in music all her life, and was an accomplished violinist.
She is survived by one step-daughter, Mrs. Paul (Helen) Troge of Charles City, one brother, Lester Meyer of Maquoketa, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her two husbands, one sister, Mrs. Ruby Peckham, and one brother, Valder Meyer.
Funeral services were held at Zion Lutheran Church Thursday, June 7, 1979 at 11 a.m. The Rev. Perry L. Brown officiated. Burial was in the Bloomfield Cemetery, Castalia. Schutte Funeral Service was in charge of the arrangements.
