Decorah- Peter L. Kohl, 72, died Wednesday at the home of his son, L. A. Kohl, following a heart attack.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Olson-Iverson Funeral home Saturday morning and burial will be in Phelps cemetery.
Kohl had been secretary of the Decorah Chamber of Commerce since Dec. 9, 1948. He made the Chamber a harmonious body, and was very active in the Decorah centennial campaign in June, 1949.
His early education was secured in Illinois schools, and he had both BA and MA degrees from the University of Illinois. He practiced law at Peoria; served as a personnel, promotional and legal worker with Chase National bank, New York, from 1920 to 1941; had special training in military tactics at Rock Island military academy and served as an army officer.
In 1902 he married Marguerite Knoblach at Metamora, Ill. They had one son, L. A. Kohl.
