Decorah- Grover Van Pelt, 64, charter member of the Berntz Symonds American Legion post, Decorah. Monday in the Veteran's hospital in Minneapolis, following four months illness; funeral, Thursday, from the Steine funeral home; born Sep. 22, 1886, son of Mr. and Mrs. Willard Van Pelt; married Nov. 20, 1920, to Mabel Ryan; leaves sister, Mrs. C. E. Gierhart, Decorah; two brothers, Lester E. Van Pelt, Decorah, and Walter Van Pelt, Cedar Rapids; served as mess sergeant in World War I, and as state guard in World War II.
