Carlaus Wibben Meyer, 81, of Monona died Friday, April 13, 1979 enroute to the Lutheran Hospital in LaCrosse, Wis.

Carlaus Meyer was born July 12, 1898 at Garnavillo, the son of Helmuth H. and Mary (Meier) Meyer. He was baptized at Garnavillo and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Castalia, of which he was a member.

He married Amanda Schultz in Postville, September 27, 1924. To this union two children were born, Merle and Marian. The couple farmed at Castalia and he also worked at Amana Refrigeration Co. in Amana until he was forced to retire because of ill health. They later moved back to Castalia. Mrs. Meyer died in 1968 and Carlaus then moved to Postville and later to Monona.

Survivors include: two children, Merle of Moscow, Idaho and Mrs. Lester (Marian) Lutz of Elkader; 13 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren; three sisters; Mrs. Viola Wirsching of California; Mrs. Lucy Kluss of McGregor and Mrs. Golda Drallmeier of Battle Creek, Mich.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Helmuth; and two sisters, Mrs. Harvey (Marie) Dahms and Mrs. John (Amy) Kluss.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 17, 1979 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Castalia. The Rev. Perry Brown officiated. Burial was in the Bloomfield Cemetery in Castalia.
