Funeral services for Mrs. Melvin Buddenberg were conducted by the Rev. Edgar Zelle last Thursday at Zion Lutheran Church in Castalia. Burial was in Pleasant View Cemetery near Castalia.
Vera Zella Meyer, daughter of August C. and Lena Hulverson Meyer, was born December 1, 1908 near Elkader, Iowa. Soon after her birth, her family moved to a farm north of Castalia. She was baptized in infancy and while a child attended the United Brethren church and Sunday School. She was a graduate of Postville high school and for a time taught in the rural schools of Winneshiek county.
On March 23, 1930 she was united in marriage to Melvin J. Buddenberg by the Rev. R. L. VanNice of Waukon. To this union four children were born: Lolita, Beverly, Bill and a daughter who died in infancy.
On February 4, 1945, she was confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Zion Lutheran in Castalia. Since that time she had been an active member of the congregation and the Ladies Aid Society.
She passed away at 12:40 a.m. August 26, 1957 at the age of 48 years, eight months and 25 days.
She leaves to mourn her passing her husband; three children, Lolita, Mrs. Earl Johnson of Postville, and Beverly and Bill at home; three grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Esther Schultz of Castalia and Mrs. Inez Schoonmaker of Waterloo; two brothers, Vernon Meyer of Clermont and Orvel Meyer of Minneapolis, Minnesota; one aunt, Miss Tena Hulverson of St. Olaf; several nieces and nephews. An infant daughter, her parents, and one brother preceded her in death.
