Mrs. John Walter (Gwendolyn Cook) Campbell
Gwendolyn Cook Campbell, the daughter of Aaron Burr and Caroline Machemer Cook, was born February 10, 1882, on a farm in Allamakee county near Postville. She died December 22, 1957, in the Good Samaritan Hospital, at Phoenix, Arizona at the age of 75 years.
Gwendolyn Cook attended rural school in Allamakee county.
On November 26, 1903, Gwendolyn Cook was married to John Walter Campbell at Castalia, Iowa.
John Walter Campbell died in 1931.
Mrs. Campbell is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Cecil F. (Carolyn) Jacobson of Phoenix, Arizona; two grandchildren and three great grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Myrta McGhee of Dubuque; and one brother, Perry Cook of Waterloo.
She lived in Postville until 1946 when she moved to Phoenix.
Mrs. Gwendolyn Campbell was a member of the Community Presbyterian Church of Postville. She was active in the W. S. C. S. of the Bethel Methodist Church of Phoenix and was a member of the Garfield Garden Club of Phoenix. She was a former member of the Rebekah lodge.
Two services were held, one on Tuesday, December 24, in the chapel In The Garden at Phoenix and the second at the Schutte Funeral Home in Postville, Friday, December 27, at 1:30 with the Rev. W. T. Martin in charge of the rites. Burial was in Castalia.Postville paper newspaper clipping from my mother's obituary collection.
