HELEN BRAY, 71, DIES APRIL 8 AT LOCAL HOSPITALFuneral services for Helen Louise Bray, 71, a Decorah housewife, were held Thursday, April 11, 1985 at 1:30 p.m. at Sensor-French Funeral Home.
Mrs. Bray died April 8, 1985 at the Winneshiek County Memorial Hospital at Decorah.
Rev. Alden Hovsa conducted the services. Organist was Alan Sensor and soloist was H. O. Christen. Burial was at the Frankville Cemetery, with Sensor-French Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements. Pallbearers were Reuben Styve, Earlen Arneson, Stanley Hanson, John Courtney, Mark Nichols and Elwood Syverson.
Helen Louise Lewis was born Feb. 17, 1914 in Decorah, the daughter of John and Amanda (Spilde) Lewis. She attended Decorah schools. She married Walter Peck in 1932 at Ossian and he preceded her in death in 1958. She then married Raymond Bray in 1959 at Nashua, Ia., and he preceded her in death in 1976.
Mrs. Bray had lived in Winneshiek and Allamakee counties until she retired to Decorah. She was a member of Decorah Lutheran Church.
She is survived by four children, Shirley Hageman of Calmar, Raymona, Roger and Robert, all of Decorah; six grandchildren; two great grandchildren; two brothers, Lyle Lewis and Ray Lewis, both of Waterloo; a sister, Mrs. Charlotte Krambeer of New Albin; and two half-sisters, Myrtle Snitker and Emma Youngblood, both of Freeport.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, two half-brothers and two half-sisters.Postville Herald newspaper clipping from my mothers obituary collection.
