Harold Frederick Meyer
Funeral services for Harold Meyer were held Friday, Nov. 19, 1982 at 1:30 p.m. at the Zion Lutheran Church in Castalia. The Rev. H. W. Wolfgram officiated. The Schutte Funeral Service of Postville was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in the Postville Cemetery.
Harold Frederick Meyer, son of William A. and Katherine (Schroeder) Meyer, was born June 16, 1902 near Castalia, Iowa. He died Tuesday morning, Nov. 16, 1982 at his home near Castalia.
He was baptized Aug. 24, 1902 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Postville. On April 16, 1916 he was confirmed at the Zion Lutheran Church in Castalia. He attended the Castalia School.
On Feb. 9, 1927 he was married to Mabel Blumhagen. A son, Arthur, was born to this union. She died March 12, 1929. He was married to Elsie Blumhagen on April 2, 1930. Three children were born to this union. They farmed in the Castalia area. Between the years of 1944 and 1967 he also operated a school bus route.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Mabel, who died in 1929, and Elsie who died Dec. 6, 1973, his parents, a brother, Wilbur, and a sister, Mrs. Alfred (Charlotte) Olson.
Surviving are three sons, Arthur of Atlantic, Iowa, Cloy F. and Duane H., both of Castalia, a daughter, Mrs. Gerald (Marlys) Hager of Castalia, eight grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, two brothers, Earl of Cedar Rapids and Leonhard of Waterloo, and two sisters, Mrs. Carl (Mabel) Schnitzler and Florence Meyer, both of Cedar Rapids.
