Leonhard C. Meyer

Funeral services for Leonhard C. Meyer, 75, of 1610 E. Ridgeway Ave. Waterloo, Iowa were held at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 28 at the Chapel of Memories funeral home in Waterloo. Burial was at Highland Memory Gardens, Des Moines with graveside services at 2 p.m. Thursday. The Rev. David Stewart, pastor of First Lutheran Church, Waterloo, officiated.

Leonhard C. Meyer, son of William A. and Catherina (Schroeder) Meyer was born Nov. 11, 1908 on a farm south of Castalia. He was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Castalia. He died June 26, 1984 at St. Francis Hospital, Waterloo.

He married Leona Meyers Oct. 17, 1953. She passed away May 4, 1982. Leonhard was employed at Rath Packing Co. in Waterloo for 25 years, retiring in 1974. He was a member of First Lutheran Church, Waterloo.

Preceding him in death were his wife; parents; two brothers, Wilbert and Harold; and a sister, Charlotte Olson.

Surviving are one brother, Earl F. Meyer, and two sisters, Florence Meyer and Mabel Schnitzler, all of Cedar Rapids; one step-daughter, Wanda Couffman of New Virginia; six step-grandchildren; 10 step-great grandchildren; 11 nieces and nephews.
