Verla Katherine Mundt

Funeral services for Verla Mundt, 65, were held Monday, Nov. 19, 1984 at 11:00 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, Castalia. The Reverend H. W. Wolfgram officiated. The Schutte Funeral Service, Postville was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in the Pleasant View Cemetery.

Verla Katherine Mundt, daughter of Charlie and Minnie (Meyer) Mundt, was born Nov. 17, 1918 on a farm in Bloomfield Township, Winneshiek county. She died Nov. 16, 1984 at Winneshiek County Memorial Hospital in Decorah.

She was baptized Jan. 12, 1919 at Zion Lutheran Church and confirmed there in 1932. She attended District 8 school and graduated from Castalia high school. Throughout her life Verla had been a housekeeper for several families in the area.

She was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Castalia and the Tuesday Club.

She is preceded in death by her father and a brother in infancy.

Surviving are a son, Gary and his wife, Jennifer, Castalia; two grandchildren, Tami and Todd Mundt; her mother, Minnie, Postville; a sister, Esther Schroeder, Castalia; two nieces, Karen (Mrs. Kenneth Ney), Ossian and Gwen (Mrs. Herman Thompson), Sidney, Ohio and great-nieces and nephews.
