Services were held at the Castalia Zion Lutheran Church Monday, Dec. 22 at 1:30 p.m. for Minnie Schweinefus who passed away Thursday, Dec. 18 at her home near Castalia. The Rev. Arthur J. Tolo officiated.
Born April 21, 1888 near Waseca, Minnesota, the daughter of Carl F. and Augusta Abbe, she was baptized May 20, 1888 into the Lutheran faith and confirmed at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Meriden, Minnesota, March 31, 1901. She attended the public schools of that community.
She was united in marriage to Wilhelm Henry Schweinefus on Nov. 28, 1906. Soon after their marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Schweinfus moved to Winneshiek county, residing for some years near the farm which became their home farm for over fifty years.
Throughout her residence in Winneshiek county, Mrs. Schweinefus had been a member of Castalia Zion Lutheran church and it's women's auxiliaries.
She was preceded in death by her husband and six children. Surviving are four children, Lorene and LaVern of Castalia, Ernest of West Union and Martin of Muscatine; two half sisters, Mrs. August (Freda) Radke of Waseca, Minnesota and Mrs. Wanda Farger of Minneapolis, Minnesota, one granddaughter, Roma Schweinefus of Denver, Colorado and many nieces and nephews.
Burial was in Pleasant View Cemetery at Castalia.
