Postville Herald, Thur., 12 Mar. 1931.
Frances M. Moore was born in Genesee County, New York, November 7, 1847, and passed away at the home of her brother, George Moore, in Conesville, Iowa, March 6, 1931, at the age of 83 years and four months.
She came to Winneshiek County with her parents in March, 1860. She was married to Levi Peck, October 18, 1866. They lived on a farm for a short time. They moved to Frankville, March 1, 1877, where she lived until her death. She lived a long, happy and useful life, making friends wherever she went.
She leaves to mourn her loss two sisters, Mrs. Mary Schoonmaker of Frankville and Mrs. Nell Clark of Lake Park, Iowa; one brother, George Moore of Conesville; several nephews and nieces and other relatives and a host of friends.
Thus ends the life of another pioneer woman of our county. She has gone and we will miss her, but not for long - we too, must follow on.
The funeral was held from the Community Church Sunday morning at 11 o'clock, Rev. Bethel officiating. Interment was made in the village cemetery.
Those from away in attendance were Mr. and Mrs. George Moore of Conesville; Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Peck, Dr. C. K. Peck, Carlton Peck, Mr. and Mrs. G. D. Bollman, Mr. and Mrs. Charley Shattuck, Gene Williams, Miss Florence Williams and Mrs. Emma Birdsell, all of Decorah; Bert Waters and Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Waters of Postville; Mrs. Wm. Kneeland of Clermont and C. H. Waters of Waukon.
