Grace Olive Schoonmaker was born in Ossian, Iowa, August 19, 1894, the second daughter of Newton and the late Myra Schoonmaker. The family moved to Decorah, Iowa, where Grace united with the First Congregational Church. She was united in marriage to Alfred Burton Crabtree, March 5, 1917, in Oskaloosa, where they made their home. Mrs. Crabtree was taken ill on Wednesday evening, June 24, and received medical attention. But she steadily grew worse and it became necessary to operate on her in an effort to afford relief. She was operated on Saturday evening, June 27, but failed to rally, and passed away early Sunday morning, June 28, 1925. The body was taken to Ossian, accompanied by the deceased's husband, sister and father and Dr. Frederick T. Mayer-Oakes. The funeral services were held Tuesday, June 30, in the Centennial Church near Ossian, Iowa, with interment in Greenwood Cemetery there. The services were in charge of Dr. Mayer-Oakes of the First Congregational Church, Oskaloosa. Deceased is survived by the husband, Alfred Crabtree; her father, Newton Schoonmaker; two brothers, Roy and (Looks like Jesse.), both of Waterloo, Iowa; and a sister, Mrs. (Looks like Faye.) M. Long of Chicago.
