Postville Herald, Thur., 14 Apr. 1927.

Hattie Irene Schoonmaker was born January 21, 1896, on her father's farm in Frankville township, where she grew to young womanhood. She was united in marriage to Charles C. Barrett at Decorah, September 2, 191_ (Looks like 1912), and they have since made Frankville their home. Three children were born to this union, Marvin, Beulah and Goldie. Four years ago she was taken ill, and later went to the Sanitarium at Oakdale where she remained for six months and being much improved returned home. But the relief was only for a time and she gradually grew weaker and weaker until the end came peacefully Sunday morning April 3, 1927. Throughout her long illness she was always cheerful and greeted everyone with a pleasant smile. A kind and loving wife and mother, a good neighbor and friend is gone.

Having expressed her faith in Jesus Christ she was baptized by the pastor of the Community Church.

Besides her husband and children, her mother, Mrs. Mary Schoonmaker; four sisters, Della Schoonmaker, Mrs. George Moore, Mrs. Chester Meeker, of Frankville, Mrs. Leona Snyder of Cedar Rapids; one brother, Ezra Schoonmaker of Frankville; also one half-sister, Mrs. Frank Kennedy of Decorah, and two half-brothers, Newton Schoonmaker, of Waterloo, and William Schoonmaker, of Minneapolis, Minn., remain to cherish her memory.

The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Peck at the Community Church at 2 o'clock, Tuesday afternoon and she was laid to rest in the ville (Frankville ?) cemetery.--Frankville Correp.
