Della C. Schmitt

Della C. Schmitt, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Sindelar, was born Nov. 26, 1905, in Sumner Township of Winneshiek County. She attended rural schools. She died March 21, 1993, at the Aase Haugen Home in Decorah.

She married William Schmitt June 2, 1925, in Protivin. She was a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church, Decorah, where she was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America. She also belonged to the American Legion Auxiliary. Her hobbies included playing cards, sewing, reading and visiting.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two brothers and two sisters.

Survivors include three children, Dr. W. J. Smith of Seattle, Wash., Mary Lou Sollien of Decorah and Jean Fishback of Postville; six grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.

Funeral services for Della C. Schmitt were held March 27 at the Aase Haugen Home Chapel. The Rev. Gary Krapfl officiated. The organist was Pastor Kristen Kvamme.

Pallbearers were Charles Fishback, David Sollien, James Fishback, Floyd Sollien, Brian Masek, Steven Sollien and Peter Torvik. Burial was at St. Benedict Catholic Cemetery.
