MRS. FRITZ AUGUST (Irene Delores Dahlstrom) SCHNUELLE

Irene Delores Schnuelle, daughter of Frank and Lillian (Cords) Dahlstrom, was born Nov. 6, 1914 at Elkader, Iowa. She died Friday, March 18, 1994 in Lutheran Hospital at LaCrosse, Wis. She was 79.

She was baptized at Elkader, Iowa and confirmed Oct. 27, 1949 at Zion Lutheran Church in Castalia. Irene attended the Little Red School House near Forest Mills, and was graduated from the Waukon High School.

On Oct. 26, 1933 she married Fritz August Schnuelle at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Postville. To this union, six children were born. They lived in the Postville area, and then farmed near Castalia for 36 years. Irene was employed as a cook for the Koffee Shop in Postville for many years. She was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Castalia and the Women of the ELCA. She also taught Sunday School and Bible School for many years.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Fritz, who died Nov. 2, 1980; two grandchildren, Rodney Schnuelle and Grant Koopman; and three brothers, Alto, Roy and Charles Dahlstrom.

Surviving are her children, Eddie and his wife Betty of Postville, Raymond and his wife Lois, and Donald and his wife Karen, all of Castalia, Judy and her husband Arvin Koopman of Dalton, Wis., Allan and his wife Judy, and Clinton and his wife Beverly, all of Castalia; 20 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; one brother, Robert Dahlstrom and his wife Shirley of Lansing; and three sisters, Jean Bjorkman and her husband Wally of Apache Junction, Ariz., Mildred Wellman and her husband Leonard of Elkader, and Helen Wagner of Waukon.

Funeral services were held Monday, March 21 at the Zion Lutheran Church at Castalia, the Reverend H. W. Wolfram officiating. Special music was provided by Kenneth Timmerman, accompanied by Marlys Hager, organist. The Schutte Funeral Service of Postville was in charge of the arrangements. Burial well be in the Pleasant View Cemetery at a later date. Casket bearers will be grandsons Mitchell, Ronnie, Danny, Darin, Joey, Randy, Ricky, Peter, Greg, Todd and Jonathan Schnuelle, Bart and Douglas Koopman.
