WALTER SAMUEL VAN WEY

Walter Samuel Van Wey was born at Frankville, June 11, 1894, the eldest son of George and Miner Van Wey, and died January 4, 1961 at the Postville Hospital at the age of 66 years. He attended the Frankville school, was a member of the Frankville Church and was a citizen of the community all his life.

He was united in marriage with Esther Hangartner on March 7, 1924. To this union were born five children: Arliss, Mrs. Roger Aschebrook of Marshfield, Wisconsin, Marrietta, Mrs. Keith Muchow of Waterloo, Janice, Mrs. Kenneth Brainard of Farmersburg, Ronald at home, and Howard, who passed away at the age of 13. These four children, his wife and nine grandchildren survive.

He is survived by his wife; four children; nine grandchildren; four sisters and two brothers, Mrs. Daisy Hendershot and Carl of California, Irvin of Ralston, Nebraska, Mae Cunningham of Cedar Falls, Maude Myren and Myrtle Webster of Frankville. Three brothers, a sister and his parents preceded him in death.

Mr. Van Wey worked at farming for a number of years, but has been employed at the John Deere factory in Waterloo for the past 17 years. He was forced to give up his work in October on account of ill health. He was a patient in his home from that time until the day before his death, when he was taken to the Postville Hospital.

Funeral services were held on Saturday afternoon, at the Frankville Church with Robert Reynolds in charge. Interment was made in the village cemetery.
