Postville Herald newspaper, 1957:
Word was received here Sunday morning concerning the death of Earl Van Wey, a former Frankville resident, who was drowned Saturday night in the Wapsie River at Waterloo. He is survived by his wife, two sons, one daughter, his mother, Mrs. Miner Van Wey, four sisters and three brothers. Funeral services will he held at the church here Thursday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock, following a short service at Schutte's Funeral Home in Postville at 1:30.
EARL KIRBY VAN WEY
Earl Kirby Van Wey was born in Frankville, April 14, 1911, the son of George and Miner Van Wey. He was one of nine children. He was educated in the Frankville Public school.
His marriage to Juanita Scarboro took place August 3, 1929. Three children were born, Leslie, Cecil and Barbara, all of Waterloo. Earl was employed in the mechanical division of the Wheeler Motor Company of Waterloo for the past six years. He departed this life at Waterloo Saturday, May 4, at the age of 46.
Surviving are his widow, three children and one grandchild; his mother, four sisters and three brothers as follows: Mrs. Miner Van Wey, Walter, Irvin, and Carl, Mrs. Maude Myren, Mrs. Mae Cunningham, Mrs. Daisy Henderschott and Mrs. Myrtle Webster.
Funeral services for Earl Van Wey were held Thursday afternoon, May 9, at the Frankville Community Church, the Rev. Alden Showalter officiating. Interment was made in the Frankville cemetery.
