Funeral services were conducted at Zion Lutheran Church, Castalia at 1:00 p.m. June 17, 1957 for Mrs. Theresa Peterson Schave who was born on March 7, 1891 at Pleasant Ridge, Clayton county, the daughter of Marx Peterson and his wife, Sophia, nee Schuman. The Rev. Edgar Zelle officiated at the service.
Mrs. Schave was received into the Christian Church through the sacrament of baptism as an adult in Monona. On September 18, 1912 she was united in marriage with George Schave, the ceremony being performed at Monona by the Rev. N. Bird.
Four daughters were born to this union: Elsie, Vivian, Bernice and Lavanda. The Schave's made their home in the surrounding areas: Clermont, Frankville, Glenwood and Castalia. The departed was confirmed in Zion Lutheran Church of Castalia on May 11, 1926 and spent the last years of her life here in Castalia. She was active in the Church and in the Ladies Aid.
She passed away at the Decorah Hospital on June 14, 1957, at the age of 66 years, three months, and seven days.
She was preceded in death by one sister and is survived by her husband, George; her children: Elsie, Mrs. Elmer Brainard of Castalia; Vivian, Mrs. Arthur Dietrich of Dumont; Bernice, Mrs. Harold McIntosh of Decorah; and Lavanda, Mrs. Howard Hansen of Decorah; eight grandchildren; four great grandchildren; three sisters: Mrs. Ray Bachelder of Rocky Mountain House, Alberta, Canada; Mrs. Lee Heasley, Marmouth, Illinois; Mrs. Charles Schave of Castalia; and brother, Ben Peterson of Neilsville, Wisconsin.
