Mrs. Charlotte Schifelbein succumbed to a heart attack at her home in Madison, Wisconsin March 4, 1956. Formerly Charlotte Meier of Frankville, "Lottie" was born December 1889 to a Frankville family where she grew up with her sister, Louise, and three brothers, John, William and Henry. Henry Meier did not survive her, passing away in the fall of 1955.

Charlotte Meier attended school in Frankville and early affiliated with the Methodist Church. In 1920 she married Arthur Borter to whom she bore a son, Ralph. Mr. Borter expired of a heart attack while undergoing dental surgery in Waukon in August of 1920. In 1927 she married Mr. Schifelbein and moved to Madison, Wisconsin where she resided until her death.

Last rites were conducted from the Schutte Funeral Home in Postville and interment was made in the Waukon cemetery, Mr. Alden G. Showalter the pastor of the Frankville Church officiating.

Besides her brothers and sister, Louise, she is survived by her husband, her son Ralph, both of Madison, Wisconsin and a daughter Hattie of Oakland, California, together with two foster children, Elspeth and Theodore, the offspring of her husband's previous marriage.
