Funeral services were held Monday at 1:30 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Castalia for George Schave, who died Thursday, April 27, at the LaCrosse Lutheran Hospital following a short illness. The Rev. Walter Pfeffer was in charge of the rites; burial was in the Castalia cemetery.

George Schave was born February 27, 1887 near Garnavillo, Clayton county, Iowa, the son of Henry and Minnie [Wedo] Schave. He passed away on Thursday, April 27, 1969, 2:00 p.m., at LaCrosse Lutheran Hospital.

He was married to Theresa Peterson on September 18, 1912 at Monona. Mr. Schave was a farmer, making his home in the surrounding areas of Clermont, Frankville, Glenwood and Castalia. He moved to Castalia in January, 1953 and since his wife passed away on June 14, 1957, has made his home with his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Harold McIntosh near Decorah.

George Schave is survived by four children, Elsie, Mrs. Elmer Brainard, of Postville, Bernice, Mrs. Harold McIntosh, and Lavanda, Mrs. Howard Hanson, both of Decorah, and Vivian, Mrs. Arthur Dietrick of Lost Nation; three brothers, William and Charles of Castalia and Albert of Clermont; 10 grandchildren, and six great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife.
