Services Held For Elmer H. Hager
Funeral services for Elmer H. Hager (71) were held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, January 5 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Castalia. The Rev. Perry L. Brown officiated.
Elmer H. Hager, son of Henry and Sophia (Grotegut) Hager was born May 17, 1907 in Ludlow township, Allamakee County. He died at Community Memorial Hospital, Postville, January 2, 1979.
He received his education in the Frankville and Waukon Public Schools. He was baptized and confirmed at Frankville Presbyterian Church. January 25, 1928 he was united in marriage with Marjorie Kobriger of Castalia and to this union three children were born.
Elmer and Marjorie made their home in the Frankville area until they moved to Castalia in 1943. He was employed by the Carnation Company of Castalia, Casten's Standard Station of Postville and then became self employed until he suffered a stroke seven years ago.
He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers: Henry, William, Fred, John and Edward; two sisters: Mrs. Herman (Lydia) Nolting and Mrs. Albert (Helen) Henning.
He is survived by his wife; three sons: Robert, Muscatine, Gerald, Castalia and Ronaldo (Jack), Postville; seven grandchildren; four great grandchildren; one brother, Otto, Castalia; two sisters: Mrs. Earl (Sophia) Livingood, Decorah, Mrs. Melvin (Hattie) Ewing, Waterloo.
Elmer was a member of Zion Lutheran church of Castalia since 1948.
Burial was in the Bloomfield Cemetery. Schutte Funeral Service was in charge of the arrangements.
