WILLIAM C. KOENIG

Funeral rites were held Monday, Feb. 7, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 1:30 p.m., for William C. Koenig, who died Friday, Feb. 4, at the Community Memorial Hospital. The Rev. Norman Ullestad officiated. Interment was in the Pleasant View Cemetery, Castalia.

William C. Koenig, son of Wilhelm Koenig and Charlotte Meyer was born July 18, 1880 in Winneshiek County. He was baptized August 24, 1880, and confirmed April 7, 1895 in St. Paul Lutheran Church. He was married to Emma Schroeder Sept. 10, 1918. They were the parents of five children. He farmed near Castalia all of his life.

Preceding him in death were his parents; six sisters, Louisa (Mrs. Charles Kaiser), Minnie (Mrs. Christ Poesch), Mary (Mrs. George Schroeder), Rosina (Mrs. Fred Ruckdaschel), Lena (Mrs. Reuben Christofferson) and an infant sister, Emma; two brothers, Louis and Fred; two grandsons, Mark and Randy.

He is survived by his wife, Emma; two sons, Orville and Merlin, Castalia; three daughters, Charlotte (Mrs. Reuben Henning) Decorah; Chrystal (Mrs. Judd Longerbeam) Cedar Rapids; and Marion (Mrs. Ray Shafer), Waukon; 12? grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.
