HENRY KOENIG
Henry Koenig, resident for 55 years of the communities of Postville and Castalia died suddenly last Saturday afternoon at his home in Castalia from a cerebral hemorrhage. Mr. Koenig had been uptown in Castalia and driven home and was near his home when the affliction resulting in his death took place.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, November 23, at 1:30 p.m., from the home in Castalia and 2:00 o'clock from Zion Lutheran church with the Rev. L. R. Meinecke officiating.
Mr. Koenig was born September 16, 1889 in Gaden by Mella, Hanover, Germany. At the age of four he accompanied his parents to America coming directly to Postville. He lived with his parents for several years on a farm near Decorah and then returned to work on a farm south of Postville for many years.
He was united in marriage with Clara Poesch on November 9, 1915. The young couple lived on various farms between Postville and Castalia for 33 years. Last January he suffered a stroke while performing his duties on the farm. In March he and his wife moved to their new home in Castalia. Mr. Koenig was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church of Castalia for many years.
He is survived by his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Arlene Larson of Castalia and Mrs. Georgeon Stadmiller of Luana; two grandsons, Donald and Gene Stadmiller; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Koenig of Burr Oak; five sisters and brothers, William Koenig of Mason City; Ida Stuckman of Burr Oak; Emma Torgeson of Fortuna, North Dakota; Otto Koenig of Oregon, and Ruby Rehwinkle of Burr. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Elmer and Fred Koenig.
