Anna M. Schroeder

Anna Minna Schroeder died Oct. 6 at Lutheran Hospital, LaCrosse.

Services were Saturday at the Zion Lutheran Church, Castalia with the Rev. H. W. Wolfgram officiating. Burial was in the Pleasant View Cemetery. The Schutte Funeral Service of Postville was in charge of arrangements.

Pall bearers were George Meyer, Lewis Meyer, Howard Learn, Kenneth Meyer, Kevin Helgerson, Merle Knapp and Dr. Scott Meyer.

She was born March 21, 1906, in Bloomfield Township in Winneshiek County, the daughter of Lewis and Mary (Caster) Meyer.

She was baptized and confirmed at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Eldorado and attended a rural school in Winneshiek County. June 22, 1927 she married Herbert F. Schroeder at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Eldorado. The couple farmed south of Castalia until 1969, when they moved into town.

She was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church, Castalia and the ALCW.

The couple had one child, Eugene, who lives in Castalia. Anna was preceded in death by her husband, who died in 1972, and by 3 brothers, Walter, John and Werner, 2 sisters, LaRue Helgerson (Thelmer) and Esther Plaster (Albert).

Survivors include Eugene, her son, a grandson, 2 granddaughters, 6 great-grandchildren, 2 brothers, William Meyer of Eldorado and Truman Meyer of West Union, and 2 sisters, Mathilda Knapp (Millard) and Rosina Guyer (Lawrence), both of West Union.
